Dunmar Delivers Girl Scout Cookies

It’s that time of year again…Girl Scout cookie time! We all love them and here at Dunmar we love supporting them in any way that we can. Recently we delivered Girl Scout Cookies out at The Diamond via a “Mega Drop” drive thru cookie delivery program. Adults, volunteers, and staff that numbered in the hundreds were on hand to help dish out more than 300,000 boxes of cookies to over 500 local Girl Scout troops in the greater Richmond and Fredericksburg area.

Many troop leaders and volunteers arrived at this Mega Drop with vans, rented U-Hauls or whatever was needed in order to get the stash of cookies for their troops. Once their cookies were picked up, the girls began delivering these to those pre-order customers, and even held sales in front of some of the local stores in the area to sell even more.

With the help of the Commonwealth Girl Scout Counsel it allows Dunmar’s success in this major project to thrive for so many years. Dunmar Employees were doing everything that they could from loading the vehicles for troop leaders, to directing traffic of incoming cars and ensuring that each troop was given the right number of boxes for selling. This program is one that is heartwarming and does an amazing job in brining out the best in all those who are involved with these girls…and we greatly enjoyed being able to be just one aspect of their amazing cookie sales!

The Girl Scout Cookie Program helps to raise the funds that the girls need in order to have fun, make their communities a better place and help them to develop valuable life skills for later in life. Those earnings from cookies are used to pay for leadership activities, community service projects, and field trips that troops may take throughout the year.
