3 Methods for Entertaining Kids on a Long-Distance Move
Posted on: Monday, July 30th, 2018Are you making a long distance move soon and have kids? If so, then you may be dreading the travel to your new home more than the actual move! For those parents who are gearing up for this move, there are a few things that you can do in order to make this move more kid friendly.
For the Road: Make an Activity Book
If you are going to be driving to your new home, be sure that you have an activity book for the kids to do while riding. This is going to make the house pass faster and you may avoid a few meltdowns when they are getting tired and cranky. What should this activity book contain? It can contain:
- Coloring pages
- Stickers
- Blank pages of paper to let them draw whatever they want
- Puzzle pages
- Game pages
You will want to be sure to pack them a crayon box with all the items they may need to complete these activities!
Stop Frequently
Don’t think that you are going to make a two or three-hour drive without stopping, especially when you have kids. For those who are traveling even longer distances, a stop is mandatory. When stopping for food, be sure to stop at those restaurants that are going to have kid friendly amenities like indoor play areas. This can help them to get out some of their energy and they will remember this trip as one that was fun!
Play Family Car Games
If you are all stuck in the car, be sure that you have a few car games on hand that the entire family can join in on. For example:
- I Spy
- 20 Questions
- Spot the License Plate
The key when traveling for a long-distance move with kids is to make this fun. You will find that if your kids are having fun, this move is less stressful for you!
