Showing Your Home Virtually
Posted on: Friday, June 12th, 2020The days of the traditional open house are no more. With COVID-19 still a serious threat for many locations throughout the United States, everyone is exercising a bit more control on where they go and who they come in contact with. For this reason, those who are listing their homes and hoping to move soon, they are facing a new obstacle in selling their home. This is virtual open houses. Real estate offices in order to still be able to do their job are basically posting videos of the home for potential buyers to see.
This means that your home needs to be ready for its time in the spotlight! The good news is that what you need to do is very similar to what you would do if you were showing your home the traditional way.
- Be sure to declutter the home. You want potential buyers to imagine how this house would be if they were living here. They cannot do that if you have your own clutter everywhere.
- Make sure that your furniture is placed the right way to make the rooms appear the best they can, as well as ensuring that the room looks large.
- Clean and dust everywhere! Remember, the camera is going to be filming and you do not want dust particles flying through the air.
- Be sure that your light bulbs are bright as well, to help add light into the rooms.
What about if you have already moved out? Then you don’t have to worry about the clutter. However, you may want to consider staging this home. There are even apps that will allow you to virtually stage this, which can be used by your real estate agent to show. So, there is an easy solution.
Remember, while many things are being done virtually, you still need to make sure that when you are ready to move, you call in enough time to set your move for the date you need. A lot of people are making the mistake thinking that movers are readily available asap. However, moving was always considered an essential service, so we have been at work and still need ample time to get your move on the books!
