What to Ask Moving Companies Before Committing
Posted on: Wednesday, April 25th, 2018We all know that you should not go with the first moving company that run across. Here at Dunmar Moving, we not only want to help move your items, be we want to educate you on what you need to do when choosing a mover! That is why we have a few questions that you should ask every moving company that you talk with to determine who is the best fit!
Always hire someone who is legally able to move your belongings. A moving company that has no license or certification is a huge red flag. Too many people move with these types of companies and find that their belongings are damaged or in worse case scenarios, missing.
Never go with a company who does not give you their rate and an estimated total cost for your move. If you do, you could find yourself paying more in the long run, and finding that you have been ripped off. Always get something in writing that the company has provided based on how many rooms are in the home along with the number of belongings that you have.
Did you know that many moving companies will start to unpack and unload your goods, then charge you a steep price for these services? In this situation, you have no choice but to pay! Therefore, you should ask about hidden charges or additional costs that are common to those who move with this company. If the company states that certain services are extra, and these services are something you want, then be sure to include this in the final cost.
Does the moving company offer transit insurance? This is insurance that is meant to protect you even further. If the company does not, then look elsewhere for this insurance. If they do, be sure to ask about the price of this included in your main moving quote!
